About
The "Amt für Anschlag", a pseudonym, offers visitors to the Kunsthaus Zurich a new perspective on the provenance and contextualization of the controversial Bührle Collection. While the Kunsthaus Zurich seems to neglect the importance of these aspects, with the augmented reality app “Beyond the Frame” the office offers a means of uncovering concealed provenances and incorrect contextualization of the Bührle collection.
Already on the way to the Kunsthaus Zurich, visitors are playfully informed about how opaquely the museum deals with the sensitive provenance of the collection. “Beyond the Frame” enables visitors to obtain this information themselves, which is withheld from them by the Kunsthaus Zurich.
With the help of the “Beyond the Frame” app, visitors can immerse themselves in the past and trace the path of the objects into the Bührle collection. The backgrounds of the works come to life and the view becomes clear on the people who created, shaped or owned them. Not only is the beauty of art highlighted, but dark sides and controversies of the past are also revealed.
With “Beyond the Frame”, the Office for Attack would like to contribute to raising awareness of the issue of provenance and at the same time inspire visitors to look at the works of art in a new light. The AR app connects the past and present in a fascinating way and creates a unique experience for people interested in art and those who want to become one.
